Day 9 wow that was tough

I must have checked out on Day 7 & 8 as you can see I didn't blog. Actually day 7 was uber tough due to my work schedule. Pulled a 16 hour overnight + PLUS + stress. In the presence of doughnuts, coffee, pizza, cookies, candy, basically a bunch of crap, I survived and honestly wasn't even tempted. But on Sunday evening I wasn't doing well emotionally. Tired, exhausted, spent. But I have survived it all. Dax Moy I think you are slowly changing my life.

Strange, but not having a single craving. Not even for alcohol (and for me, that's pretty amazing). But after 3 days without carbs, the first thing I wanted this morning was FRUIT. I loved this morning as I ate lots of fruit throughout the morning. Grapefruit, pineapple, cherries, grapes. I hope I didn't over do it, but it was wonderful.

Overall I've lost 7 lbs and a few inches. My upper body seems to be under the most transformation so far. We aren't measuring until Thursday this week, so more to follow on that.

I want to see if this video works. It should be pretty cute if it does.

Check it out. This is the reason monkey dog is in this deal. What a RUMP !!!! :-)

Day 6 Update time for change

I feel incredibly beat up today, but I'm still going at this with zeal! On top of that, we all found out our nutrition plan changed to eliminate carbs for a few days. Dax mentioned feeling spacey during this time. Too late. I've been spacey since about day 3 and feeling like my heads not screwed on all the way. Having much difficulty completing the 3rd workout every day. Been able to make up the workout this weekend, but I've got to find a way to adjust my schedule somehow to get this 100% all the time completed!!! Tonight I grudingly work an overnight at a hospital here in Houston, and I have to be on campus between midnight and noon on Sunday. Bummah! That will surely whack out my schedule for sleep and exercise times. I should be able to do this however just DO IT already :-)

All day long I feel like a complete ball of sweat, but at least am not sweating like a swine during the overnight. I think that was a detox experience. Probably a good thing in the end.

Day 5 and 4 combined because rebel has arrived

Here i am on day 5 of 30 in 30. Still very early in the program and going at it well for the most part ~ except. Yesterday on Day 4, I posted my measurements and densities, but not a post of what was on my mind. I think the rebel arrived (the me that works against myself) and jumped right in there telling me there wasn't time to post when I need to spend time with my fiance, etc. I did make it through all the workouts on day4 so that was a good thing. This is a photo of my hubby to be - Orlando. A wonderful man. Such a great goofy photo of me stuffing my mouth with Mexican food and in the presence of such a huge margarita. Those bad habits are in my original post to Dax when I submitted my guinea pig plea!

This morning i got a 15 minute late start and had to cut my meltdown in half. I started c-3 but did not finish and of course didnt get to the 4th circuit either. Rebel? I'm sure! So, I saw the rebel in someone else yesterday. She actually bought chocolate muffins and had them in her car because she was disappointed about lack of results so far. Amazingly, Dax reminded her of why she was doing this in the first place and he gave her the same words back that she used when she made her guinea pig plea. So, I figured it would be a good thing to write down the specific reasons why this is important to me. We are only in day 5 and the going will get tougher, and I may need to rely on this post.

I'm doing this and it is important to me because....

I can honestly not remember a time in my life when i've been happy with how i look and feel. I know that deep down i can be happier, healthier, and look better ~ in that order. I want to be able to tuck in my shirts and wear a belt and wear short sleeved shirts, a bathing suit and shorts and feel confident. To this point, I am getting married on October 3rd and I really want to feel happy and confident from the inside out and especially look beautiful in my wedding dress. I feel like I have tried over and over and over again to lose weight and get in shape and have spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars on getting in shape, but i have not met my own goal of having this in my life. I too, look around and see too many people, especially my family who are in desperate need of healthier and happier lifestyles. I cannot change them, but maybe I can be an example and I want to be an example that this is hope that can be achieved.

Day 5 measurements

here are the flabby stats. biggest lost in inches around my chest - isn't that just the way it always goes. and of course, the waist? no budge ~ :-) ~ but it will, it doesn't have a chance.

Day 5 weight: 159

Chest: 39.5
Waist 34 (go down please !!!)
Hips 41.25
Thigh 23.75
Arm 12.25

Day 5 Densities

very bad today! Absolutely ran out of time ~ did not finish 3rd and 4th meltdown circuits. Started out with C-3 but had to stop (how convenient, eh?). I often think if i don't finish or stop short, it could be the 1 lb difference in hitting the 30lbs.... o crud ... the good news is I had a PT session today so, i wasn't completely dormant.

Day 3 - I want my mommy!

Sure could have used a cup of coffee this morning (ok, make that a tripple shot of expresso and if that doesn't work, I might have another one :-). Truth: It was a little hard to get out of bed this morning, but I thought to myself, "I'll just use my new inner strength to get up, warm up and move into my meltdown routine". So, getting up sounded a little like this: Ooh, ooow, ohh, owww, oohh, with some choice words mixed in there. Hey, I'm sounding alot like the puppy-mutt today!

Thought I'd post my eats for today

Breakfast:
2 organic scrambled eggs. plain. no salt. no pepper. - LOVE IT! I am really enjoying the taste of the eggs whereas I would have usually grated some cheese, piled on the salsa, and wrapped in a couple of corn tortillas.

1 mango - yummy yummmy yummy

Lunch:
Cut up red and orange bell peppers
Fresh hummus
Cauliflower and curry seasoning
Quinoa - apprx 1 cup

snack:
organic grapes

Dinner:
Lentil / curry soup
Salad with lots of fresh veggies

Day 3 Measurements

My Weight - 159lbs
Chest 41"
Waist 34"
Hips 42"
Thigh 23.75"

Spiderman 46 (31)
Step thru lunge 34 (28)
Curl and press 36 (29)
Squat 51 (40)

Wow - as sore as I was, I am pleasantly surprised in my density improvement. It seemed when I was doing the meltdown, that my stats were going to be lower because I am so incredibly sore :-)

Day 2 Update

I'm pretty sure I have the "official elimination diet headache" (Meaning: my body must be in the early-to-mid stages of detox from caffeine, sugar, alcohol, wheat, and dairy! and my head definitely knows about it!) I think I might miss coffee more than I will wine. For me, what a concept ;) Everything went good with this mornings workout. I'm about to leave work and head strait home to do workout #2.

Workout #2 completed around 6:30pm. The number of squats in this program is phenomenal. So, who on day 2 could possibly sit on the turlet without saying ohhhhhhh ooooww?

Workout #3 completed around 9:40pm. I like this workout because it starts out oh-so-very refreshing, and ends up with a few choice words for Dax (in a good way that is....) :-)

Day 1 Densities

Workout #1

Pushup 40
Squat 44
Shoulder press 48
Step back lunge 44
Spiderman (evil) 31
Step thru lunge (evil#2) 28

Squat 40

Day 1 Update

Well I made it through day 1 of 30 in 30. And in reality, the elimination diet ALONE was a challenge, however I was able to follow it to a tee. (mind you, I didn't follow it to a "tea" because that has CAFFEINE in it !!).

And, Water. My new second best friend (next to Miss Monkey that is...) The workout(s) --- yes plural --- were very challenging. The morning MELTDOWN i think for me was the biggest challenge and I'm glad it is done in the morning. The meltdown is multiple repetitions of exercises including a variety of squats and lunges and pushups... I think in the overall day I definitely worked every muscle group in my body. My bum (as he calls it) is very very sore and I had already been doing squats and lunges already, so the new workout is really working all the areas.

With 30 in 30, when doing some of the workouts you have to be in a plank position and even up on your toes a little. Well, I had a big-toe-crisis on Sunday night at dance lessons. I took a step forward with my left foot and my honey took a step too, but surprise, my toe hit the tip of his right boot and POW! Toenail drama -- blood and all! So... I'm not saying who was on the wrong foot, but it was basic foxtrot and I was stepping forward on the left foot...
Well, let's just say, add a little toe pain to the challenge and I'm in for a fun few days :-) But I'm committed to no excuses - even as Dax would say. Tired? Do it anyway. Busy? Do it anyway. Sore? Do it anyway. Toenail difficulties? Do it anyway.

Starting Weight and Measurements

Well, as painful as it may be, being part of the 30 in 30 challenge by London personal trainer Dax Moy requires I take my measurements and before pictures and I'm ready to post, so without further ado here goes the first level of pain and agony

Starting weight: 163

Chest = 41"
Waist = 35"
Hips = 42"
Thighs = 24.5"
Calf = 14.5"
Arm = 13"

PS: I'll take the measurements for monkey dog tomorrow and get those posted too :-)

Waiting for 30in30

Somebody called my Monkey "chubby" today. It happened when my fiance was outside with her and these two doctors were out walking and they asked him, "why is your dog so chubby??". Oh, this happens all the time. 30in30 is going to be so good for us.
I was looking at myself the other day in a mirror and I could have sworn I saw a JOWL ! OK maybe I'm just being overly paranoid, or maybe this is just the facts of life... So here is a recent pic of me and my grandma Rose. She is the sweetest and cutest thing! And she is so much fun to be around... But back to my point on the jowls - it seems like in many of my pictures these days I have the double chin thing going. So when I take my "before" pictures today, I am going to do a close up of my face and neck area so I can compare with the after shots too.
I swear I woke up in the middle of the night last night and could not stop thinking about this 30in30 challenge. My head would not stop thinking, doubting, switching to a positive attitude, mulling, thinking of everyone else too, imagining, waiting, etc... etc... etc... of course ironically one of Dax's things is about sleeping well. So, my head was definitely working against me on the sleep thing last night. If I have time, I have a good excuse for a nap today.

Monkey Dog is going with me on this one. We both have weight to lose. She has such a round frame and a big behind. I'll be taking her measurements and we'll be going on long walks and jogs together daily. I'm planning 30 lbs in 30 days through an exciting program sponsored by Mr. Dax Moy. http://www.dailydoseofdax.blogspot.com/ More exciting adventures to follow!

I am starting my big adventure today. Who's in?
